Info & Guidelines

Welcome to [community profile] who_straybunnies. It's a space for any Doctor Who-related fanwork ideas you're not planning to create yourself. Exorcise that idea that's been haunting you by donating it to this comm!

It's also a place to pick up inspiration in the wild by taking somebody else's prompt. All prompts can be claimed as many times as people wish and new prompts are welcome at any time. There are, of course, equally no guarantees that prompts will be used - but you never know!

Discussion of the ideas and general batting them back and forwards in the comments is great, too.

If you create a fanwork for a prompt, please post to the comm using this template:

However, please do remember to also post a link as a comment to the original post - that way the donor should be more likely to see it.

Please don't post any fic unrelated to any of the 'plotbunnies' donated here.

Guidelines for posting unwanted ideas are here. All new prompts are welcome, no matter how quiet the community may be!

You can find the Prompt Masterlist here and the Fanworks Masterlist here.

Modly Notice

Just a head's up to anybody still watching this community that I plan to import it to Dreamwidth presently. Given how many people are deleting their accounts at present, it's the only way to preserve past content. However, I've no intention to close down or delete the community here on LJ. Please let me know if you have any queries about that.

And while it is pretty quiet round here, I'd like to say that, as mod, I'm always around (on either side) and new prompts are always welcome - after all, you never know!

Doctor Who Friending Meme

There's a Doctor Who friending meme going on here:

And the poll about what you'd like to see on [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies is still open if you want to leave your thoughts. And I shall hopefully put up a discussion post before the weekend is out. Regarding the poll, most people seem to like the idea of the holiday challenge, as last year, so there will be one! Of some kind... Thanks, everyone!

State of the bunnies...

Apologies, I seem to be the Worst Mod Ever currently. I'll try and see if I can actually manage some updates soon. (RL keeps eating me).

Anyway, I'm still here, so is the comm and it's always open for the putting down and picking up of prompts. I was having some thoughts about some things we could do. Would anyone be interested in any of the following?

[Poll #1882607]

I'll see about posting a discussion post this week as well. *mod sidles sheepishly away*

Prompt of the Month Poll

In a recent post, it was suggested that the Prompt of the Month challenge might be more likely to inspire people to post entries if we then voted on them and chose a winner.

I'm mostly a little disinclined to be competitive (I prefer everyone's stories being viewed as complementary), but if most people would prefer that, then that's how we'll do it.

(There are banners and icons for all particpiants if wanted, and I shall hopefully do improved ones for next time, anyway.)

[Poll #1709432]

(I find I rather love LJ polls - any excuse to have one...)

New Modly Post

Just an amendment to one of the original guidelines - That, when posting fic for a prompt, you should put the link (or the fic, if it's comment!fic) as a comment to that post. Please still do this, as it means the original donor will be contacted. However, if it is an old post, and you want to make sure the mods also see it and include it in the monthly fic updates, please use this post.

I've been keeping an eye on previous posts so far but as [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies progresses, that's not so realistic, and I don't get alerts for comments posted in other people's posts.

Therefore, if you are concerned about the fic getting missed by anyone who's not the original poster, please alert the mods to that here (or use the monthly update post).

I hope that makes sense - post fic to the original post, as ever, but if it's an old post, also shout at the mods here to make sure it gets picked up in the updates. Thank you.

Let's resume business as usual - anyone fancy writing about the attack of the zombie bees?

Posting Guidelines

If you have a plot bunny you would like to abandon here, these are the guidelines.

What's welcome is pretty flexible - generally ideas you've had that you're not going to use yourself: abandoned WIPs, fics that sounded great and never quite worked, left-over prompts from ficathons, random ideas from that episode you've just seen, AUs, rare ships, challenges, that drabble you wanted to extend into a full story, or a fic idea you think no one could actually get away with.

If you're a reader rather than a writer, your prompts/ideas are equally welcome.

New Who, Classic Who, Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood and spin-off ideas are all on-topic. Anything that fits into the Whoniverse is fine, no matter how odd or obscure.

It does need to be your own idea, not somebody else's.
