Era (if any): Classic Who (Third, Sixth Doctor Eras)
Characters/Pairings (if any): The Doctor (3rd), The Doctor (6th), Josephine Grant, Peri Brown
Plot Bunny Summary: The Third Doctor and Jo investigate a group of Silurians that happen to be in the same place the Sixth Doctor and Peri are trying to have a holiday.
Any Other Notes: I got the idea from the scene in Timelash where Peri says she has seen pictures of Jo Grant and I thought it would be great if they met.

Era: Classic Who (Second Doctor era)
Characters/Pairings: Victoria Waterfield, Zoe Heriot, Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon
Plot Bunny Summary: Victoria & Zoe somehow get to share an adventure with the Doctor & Jamie. I don't really have any plot to suggest beyond that idea, except that Victoria & Zoe would become immediate friends (and allies in teasing Jamie) and the Doctor would find it all very amusing.
Any Other Notes: I got the idea after seeing Deborah Watling, Wendy Padbury & Frazer Hines together at a convention, and their dynamic is so funny & adorable just like Victoria, Zoe & Jamie would be if they were all together, and I just know there's a fun story there, but for the life of me I can't come up with it.

It must be time for another discussion post. After all, it's been at least a year and a half, and we hadn't even got through all the Doctors - and now we've got another one! Doesn't time fly, even when you're not having fun? More seriously, your terminally errant mod has finally got to grips with some things that were getting in the way & hopefully should at least be able to post more regular discussions again. In the meantime, the comm is still, as ever, open for the donating of prompts and writing of fic for them.

Anyway, more of that anon, for now, we're here to talk about the Seventh Doctor! From lovable clown to dark manipulator and all things in between, he had a TV run that was cut short, but an extended life in other media, especially the New Adventures, and there's plenty to play with.

So, what Seventh Doctor fics would we like to see exist? Are you after more Ace, feel that Mel never gets a chance to shine, or missing Chris and Ros, or Doctor-era Benny? Can there ever be enough Hex, Raine, or Elizabeth Klein for your liking? Got a few plotty ideas for adventures Seven ought to have had, or a love for guest characters of the era? Which other era's Doctors/companions/villains would you like to see Seven meet? Share them here! You never know - sometimes magical things happen...

As for me, I love all things Seven and Ace and could never be sorry with more of them, and it'd be fun to see them encounter Twelve and Clara. How about everyone else?

And in the time-honoured tradition, here's a few suggestions from the Random Pairing Generator to kick things off:

Era: multi-era
Characters/Pairings: Jenny Flint, Jenny (the Doctor's daughter), and Jenny (resistance fighter girl befriended by Barbara in 'The Dalek Invasion of Earth')
Plot Bunny Summary: There've been several characters called Jenny, and I can't help thinking that they could totally have an adventure together. I don't have any idea how they would end up meeting, but they should save the world, and there should be much ass-kicking, and general girl-power awesomeness.
Any Other Notes: I realize not as many people have seen Classic Who, so if anybody wanted to do just Paternoster Jenny and Doctor's Daughter Jenny saving the world, that would be great too!

Era (if any): New Who
Characters/Pairings (if any): Eleventh Doctor, Lorna Bucket
Plot Bunny Summary: In A Good Man Goes To War, Eleven's first meeting with Lorna Bucket is her second with him - I'd love to see a fic about their other meeting, when she was younger. (Because Eleven + child fic, yes.)
Any Other Notes: None.

Era: Fifth Doctor
Characters/Pairings: Tegan & Nyssa
Plot Bunny Summary: Tegan and Nyssa have to pose as a married couple.
Any Other Notes: Over the years there have been various fics that shipped Nyssa/Tegan. What I don't recall seeing is one where they aren't a couple, but have to act as if they were. Perhaps someone they meet thinks they're married, and they have to go along with the pretence for complicated Universe-saving reasons. A present-day or near-future Earth setting would also mean Tegan had to handle Nyssa's unfamiliarity with Earth while struggling with a few decades' worth of culture shock.

Era (if any): Eleventh Doctor or AU Twelfth Doctor
Characters/Pairings (if any): Eleventh Doctor or Twelfth Doctor; other characters as you like
Plot Bunny Summary:

In "Time of the Doctor," we learned that Eleven was on his last life. I wish we had learned that information earlier in Eleven's run, and gotten to see some of the implications of that, so I am throwing this prompt out in the hope of inspiring fic. What was it like for the Doctor to know that he had no more regenerations left? Did he know he was on his last incarnation from the moment of his regeneration into Eleven from Ten, or did he find out later that he "lost" a regeneration during "Journey's End"? Did he have any particular goals for his last life? Was he more worried about going into danger? Less worried? Did he ever tell any of his companions? If so, what were their reactions?

As an alternative to Eleven, what about an AU Twelfth Doctor fic where he is the one on his last life? What is it like for him to be starting out on his last incarnation? Any goals? I would particularly love to see fic where he's trying to find Gallifrey and restore the Time Lords as the main thing he wants to accomplish before he goes. Although actually, come to think of it, this could be a non-AU Eleventh Doctor prompt as well if you place it between "Day of the Doctor" and "Time of the Doctor."

Any Other Notes: This is a plotbunny where multiple fills are very much encouraged! We didn't get to see these ideas played with in the show, so bring on the fanfic!

ERA: Er, this is rather complicated. Ten era... sort of. Ten definitely features, though. The Timey-Whimey-ness of this request is headache inducing but stories that cause brain implosions timeline wise seem to be my favourite.

CHARACTERS:
Ten - Anytime before End of Time, or even some unsaid (or said) fix it. The author has full creative license.
Jack - After being made immortal. Actual point after in his personal history is up to the author
River - After she is "Professor" River Song is okay.
Amy & Rory, Brian Williams - After Dinosaurs on a Ship, before The Angels Take Manhattan

PAIRINGS:
Ten/River/Jack (OT3)
Amy/Rory

PLOT BUNNY SUMMARY:
I have this addiction to "After the Whump" whump like there is nothing else (can't you tell, lol?) and I'd like to see this scene laid out:

Ten has been critically injured up to the point of regenerating but for the sake of preserving the series timeline, he isn't going to. He's been injured critically, needs care, etc. River has been injured, but conscious enough to get them all into the medbay on the TARDIS, but too injured to do much else (maybe a leg injury or something to affect mobility), and as per usual Jack has died and come back but using Sahiya's methodology behind it when he comes back it's usually when consciousness can be supported and him out of immediate danger but it doesn't mean he isn't a bit banged up and is in need of TLC too.

River has pleaded to the TARDIS to take the three of them someplace safe, and someplace where friends can help them.

Considering it's River and the Doctor (and Jack), the TARDIS takes them to Amy and Rory and in Amy & Rory's timeline it's sometime after Dinosaurs on a Spaceship so an appearance by a concerned Brian Williams would be fantastic too.

OTHER NOTES:
I got the idea from Sahiya's absolutely incredible story here, which is where the idea came from. Not looking for a re-write of her story because then her story would lose it's charm. In fact, plot is entirely optional, but again, if the writer has an idea and runs with it I'm happy.

If the story has a plot, I'd like to request that the Doctor not be the one that solves it -- let him be laid up the entire time recovering. I would love to see a "The Companions team up to save the day!", particularly if it ends up being Brian doing the saving...

I am in desperate need for a whumpy piece to get me through writing the Legacy ;)

Plot Bunny Summary:
I've never had a plot bunny bite me this hard before and this is the only place I can think to leave it. It's kind of crackish and came up after watching Matilda the Musical in London.

In all three versions of Matilda-book,movie,musical-at the end, Matilda's parents have to leave in a hurry, and Matilda ends the book leaving with Miss Honey. My thought was, what if instead of dodgy business dealings/the mob/whatever that caused them to leave, the Doctor had a hand in that instead.

Double points if there's a scene with him and Matilda.

Triple extra points if it's the Seventh Doctor, who I had in mind.
Any Other Notes: I'd love to see this as I have great bunny spawning ability, but little writing skills.

Hey, here are two ideas!

1. Wikipedia (or maybe the Doctor Who wiki) mentions that there was going to be an episode where it was revealed that Rose's entire life had been controlled by the Doctor to make her into the perfect companion. How about a fic where that's actually the case?

2. In one of the novels, (Winner Takes All... now that's an innuendo if I ever heard one!) Nine is forced to basically use Rose as an avatar in a deadly video game, controlling her every movement through a game controller. She's scared and she hates it, but at the same time, she trusts him completely. So... what about a fic where something like that happens and she doesn't hate it, if you know what I mean?

Era (if any): Second Doctor
Characters/Pairings (if any): Second Doctor, Jamie, Victoria
Plot Bunny Summary: The Doctor and Jamie must rescue Victoria from an unwelcome marriage.
Any Other Notes: This story line came to me in a dream a couple of years ago; it was set in modern-day Los Angeles, was the climax of an intricate plot arc involving Cybermen and Ice Warriors, and had Victoria fleeing through the streets in her wedding dress. But those details are strictly optional.

Era (if any): Fourth Doctor
Characters/Pairings (if any): Leela, the Brigadier
Plot Bunny Summary: She's an independent warrior woman from the future who likes to stab things. He's an old-fashioned military man from the seventies (or possibly the eighties) who likes to shoot things. Both of them like to blow things up. They fight crime.
Any Other Notes: I just really want to see these two team up, fighting crime or making fun of the Doctor or anything. I imagine they'd clash at first, but at the end of the day they'd totally be bros.

Era (if any): Anything EXCEPT Three, Four, Ten, and Eleven
Characters/Pairings (if any): Sarah Jane/any of the Doctors she DIDN'T get to travel with, particularly One, Two, Five, or Six. (Okay, she got to meet three of those in 'The Five Doctors,' but she didn't really get to know them.)
Plot Bunny Summary: Most of the Sarah Jane/Doctor She Didn't Meet fic I've seen has been with Nine, Eight, or Seven--who are awesome, and I love them. But I wonder how that relationship would work with the other Doctors?
Any Other Notes: I'd be particularly interested in Five/Sarah Jane, since the executives did ask Lis Sladen to return to the show with Five (she said no in favor of getting "K-9 and Company"). Also, despite my use of "/", I'd be totally happy to see friendship fic too.

Era (if any): First Doctor
Characters/Pairings (if any): David/Susan, Doctor(s)?, any other characters you want
Plot Bunny Summary: I love fairy-tale metaphors, and Susan with her one shoe at the end just cries out for a Cinderella re-telling.
Any Other Notes: In addition to all the variations of the story itself, there's also this potentially useful American (possibly other countries as well, I just heard it here) jumping rope rhyme: "Cinderella/ Dressed in yella/ Went upstairs to kiss her fella/ Made a mistake/ Kissed a snake/ How many doctors did it take?"

Mods, could I have some tags for Susan and David, please?

Grand [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies Holiday Challenge! This is perhaps a bit crazy, I realise, but here goes anyway...

Here's the idea: I'll post 12 prompts here (for the 12 Days of Christmas). Anyone who writes any variation of any of them of any length gets a participation banner, and 2 points.

You get 2 further points for every extra story you write and 1 point for any elements from any of the other prompts you incorporate into your fic.

So, basically, 2 points for writing, say, Ace/Mags. If you write vampire Ace/Mags battling the evil giraffes you get 4 points. 5 if they stumble over an octopus in the TARDIS halfway through.

If you write twelve stories, or incorporate all twelve prompts into one fic, you win. (Mostly kudos, but I'll see about a banner, and/or possibly the option to choose January's Prompt of the Month. If anyone really does manage that or anything near it, I will do my very best to see about a small but real prize, too.)

As you can imagine, it can be as cracky as you wish. Or as serious - it's up to you! As with the usual Prompt of the Month, you can put a wide interpretation on the original prompt.

So if you're unsure about some of the characters, don't worry too much. It's mainly fun, so if you want to learn enough to have Eleven mention - while running away from the Care Bears in Ancient Egypt - that it's a shame Evelyn isn't here, because she always liked history, and he could have used a knitting needle right now, you'll still get at least half a point for it. Also, wide interpretation is wide - any Doctor finding an octopus in the TARDIS bathtub will get you that prompt, or indeed, Sarah finding it in her bathtub. At least four prompts are non-era specific. And if you can learn enough about the unknown characters, you can risk a quick cameo - this isn't a serious ficathon, or a gift exchange.

Your 12 random prompts are:

1. From [livejournal.com profile] daystarsearcher, [livejournal.com profile] orimornie: Ace/Girl of the week (especially Ace/Mags.)
2. " [livejournal.com profile] captain91: vampire fic
3. " [livejournal.com profile] pitry: the Doctor vs the [evil] giraffes.
4. " [livejournal.com profile] pitry: stories based on Welsh myths
5. " [livejournal.com profile] curuchamion: Eleven finds the Care Bears are trying to kill him.
6. " [livejournal.com profile] curuchamion: Three or Four & Sarah Jane discover an octopus in the TARDIS bath tub.
7. " [livejournal.com profile] persiflage_1: Two/Martha Jones
8. " [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook, [livejournal.com profile] ghost2 [livejournal.com profile] persiflage_1, [livejournal.com profile] pitry: Evelyn Smythe (with or without Six).
9. " [livejournal.com profile] librarylover82, [livejournal.com profile] daystarsearcher, [livejournal.com profile] singeaddams: Six meets Rani Chandra (from RPG prompt Six/Rani Chandra/breaking the rules)
10. " [livejournal.com profile] derekmetaltron: any Meddling Monk fic.
11. " [livejournal.com profile] jjpor: Frobisher, penguin PI.
12. " [livejournal.com profile] moon_blitz: story set in Ancient Egypt/Ancient Greece/Ancient China.

This is a bit of fun, but don't be afraid to take one of the prompts and write a perfectly serious fic from it. The original prompter will no doubt be delighted - and you may still win, as there's no guarantee anyone will write fic at all, let alone multiple fics!

As this is a bit different to the usual, I put these prompts back in the bag for future use.

The challenge will open on Monday 12th December and close on Sunday 8th January (as long as it's that date in your time zone, you're okay to post).

I don't want to set word limits for a game like this, but I'll add this: no more than 2 drabbles per person (you can write a 12 drabble set if you wish, but only the first 2 will earn you points for the prize). Also list fic, or a drabble or short poem that uses all the words of the prompts in some way will only get you the usual 2 points and a banner.

Please post your stories, or links to them here in this post. Please include a note to say which prompts you've included in the fic. You can also ask questions here, (or tell me that I've finally lost it).

Happy writing!

One other note: I may need someone to read the stories for me, so if you're not up for writing, but should be able to do some post-Christmas reading (assuming there is some longer fic), please let me know in the comments. (That may sound odd, but I've a good reason, so thank you.)

Here's an idea from [livejournal.com profile] narwhale_callin. Neither she nor [livejournal.com profile] dragonofmemory feels able to tackle it, and I know I can't, but someone out there needs to try:

"...pirate!Three roving about the Caribbean. The scenario I'm picturing is accidentally-fobwatched!Three thinking he's a pirate, somehow escaping UNIT and stealing a ship to rove about the Lesser Antilles with some random guys he shanghais from the street, being pursued by an extremely exasperated Brigadier and the UNIT crew on a UNIT ship that they don't really have the funding for, and of course encountering Spanish-pirate!Master and having epic sea battles because English pirates very much don't like Spanish pirates." Era (if any): Three and/or Four
Characters/Pairings (if any): Sarah Jane, Liz, Jo, possibly Three or Four as well
Plot Bunny Summary: Like the subject line says, I just finished reading this history of Nancy Drew's authors. And it is so very, very clear to me that Sarah Jane traveled back in time to the 1920s and served as the inspiration for Nancy Drew. (Actually, now that I think about it, LIz isn't a half-bad candidate either, if you focus on the demeanor and style more than the crime-solving. So maybe Sarah Jane would be the boyish, adventurous George? And Jo totally could've been the giggly, goodhearted inspiration for Bess.)
Any Other Notes: Also, Harriet Stratemeyer (head of the syndicate that published Nancy Drew) has definite parallels to Jo Grant, with the privileged background (and accompanying blindspots) and the can-do attitude and the desire for everyone just to be nice and get along. And Mildred Wirt (the original ghostwriter) was a fiercely independent journalist, clever and proud and hard-working and filled to the brim with gumption--she basically was Sarah Jane. So maybe the story could be more linear, about Jo or Sarah meeting these women in the seventies, and being inspired by them.

I think we last had a discussion post in June, so we're well overdue for another. (As ever, if anyone else wants to start one, go right ahead.)

I commented in previous discussion posts that One and Two lagged behind the other Doctors in terms of stories on Teaspoon, but that just isn’t true anymore… it’s Six that’s now possibly the least-written Doctor. Funnily enough, I was thinking we should talk Six next anyhow…

While Six’s isn’t my favourite era on TV, there’s still plenty I like about it (and him), and some fun characters introduced (The Rani, Sil, Glitz), the audios and comics gave us Evelyn and Frobisher among others, and he’s wonderfully technicoloured. Personally, I always find writing Six is the most fun a person can have doing fanfic. He’s loud, loves cats and words and he’s very much the Doctor whether you like it or not.

So what Six-era stories would people like to see? Any crossovers that would work best with him? One-off characters or companions you feel should be explored further? Something else?

As ever, to kick things off, here be a mix of weird, wonderful and oddly sensible prompts pulled from the random Pairing Generator.

So, as much as I love Martha, I am not a fabulous writer. I have a really wonderful idea that I would love to see someone more creative and talented than me take up. If this interests you, PLEASE, give it a go!

The idea is that Eleven, Amy, and Rory are off on some adventure and the Doctor gets hurt. Dangerously hurt. They manage to get him back into the safety of the TARDIS, but have no idea what to do from there. Luckily, one of the safety protocols, left over from his last regeneration, is activated when the Doctor enters the TARDIS but is too injured to fly her. A video of Ten pops up (ala Human Nature) and tells them that in the case of an emergency, the TARDIS is programmed to go straight to Martha, to his Doctor. Of course, Amy and Rory have no idea whats going on, and have to deal with the reality of the Doctor's past.

The story can go anywhere you want. I personally see it set in between seasons 5 and 6, but you can put it anywhere you want. You can make it gen!fic if it works, or you could make a pairing. It is entirely up to you. Seriously, if someone could write this, it would make my world!
