It must be time for another discussion post. After all, it's been at least a year and a half, and we hadn't even got through all the Doctors - and now we've got another one! Doesn't time fly, even when you're not having fun? More seriously, your terminally errant mod has finally got to grips with some things that were getting in the way & hopefully should at least be able to post more regular discussions again. In the meantime, the comm is still, as ever, open for the donating of prompts and writing of fic for them.

Anyway, more of that anon, for now, we're here to talk about the Seventh Doctor! From lovable clown to dark manipulator and all things in between, he had a TV run that was cut short, but an extended life in other media, especially the New Adventures, and there's plenty to play with.

So, what Seventh Doctor fics would we like to see exist? Are you after more Ace, feel that Mel never gets a chance to shine, or missing Chris and Ros, or Doctor-era Benny? Can there ever be enough Hex, Raine, or Elizabeth Klein for your liking? Got a few plotty ideas for adventures Seven ought to have had, or a love for guest characters of the era? Which other era's Doctors/companions/villains would you like to see Seven meet? Share them here! You never know - sometimes magical things happen...

As for me, I love all things Seven and Ace and could never be sorry with more of them, and it'd be fun to see them encounter Twelve and Clara. How about everyone else?

Time for another discussion post!

This time it's the Eighth Doctor and his era, probably the strangest in DW - he stands as a bridge between Doctor Who Old and New, not quite one or the other and for a Doctor who only had one brief outing, his separate adventures in different media cover quite a huge period with many characters, most of them equally worthy of fic.

And that's even before we get to New Who's burdening this seemingly most light-hearted of Doctors with the horror of the Time War off-screen and the opportunities that presents for creative fans...

What fic (or other fanworks) are you wanting to see more of for Eight and his era? Any more Eight in general, ships, companions, crossovers, genres - what do you think? (Don't forget any ideas shared here will get linked back to the masterpost and included in the selection for Prompt of the Month, so you never know - sometimes Stuff Happens...)

Any Other Notes: In the Doctor Who Unbound range there are two audios (Sympathy for the Devil; Masters of War) featuring David Warner as an AU Third Doctor and Nick Courtney as an AU version of the Brig who resigned from UNIT when the Third Doctor doesn't arrive on Earth (as he did in Spearhead from Space). The Brig ends up travelling with the Doctor (and they have a Dalek adventure in Masters of War) - I'd like to see a further adventure (or more than one) featuring the pair.

Another of these discussion posts, this time regarding the creator of the Daleks. Now I often find with myself wondering whether one can consider either the Master or Davros to be the Doctor's most personal enemy. Most would probably veer for the former but I do find myself with several of the Doctors (particularly Four and Six) thinking that Davros is probably their most fearsome enemy for their particular incarnation.

As such you'd think that like the Master, Davros would have a fair number of fics to his name given his appearances in the Classic Series, his return in the New Series, various Big Finish stories including his origins being told in the mini-series I, Davros... However, Davros actually has few fanfictions, and it's rare that he is the central character in any case. Over on Whofic Davros appears as a optional search character for the Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctor catagories, as well as in the Multi-Era and Other Era sections. Yet no sign for Six, the Doctor with which he probably had the best verbal intereaction with (seriously, watch Revelation and listen to Davros)? Or in the Tenth Doctor section for his return in Journey's End? Even on the sections he does appear the stories in total come to two pages at the most (and many are written by one writer).

So to combact this I propose a set of prompts all centred on Davros and the various characters connected to him - the Daleks of course, but also ones like Nyler, Lytton, his lover Shan, his mother and sister as heard in I, Davros... Here's your chance to give out some Davros prompts! Here's a couple prompts taken from the Random Pairing Generator to start you off...

Time for another Discussion Post! (And don't forget anyone's welcome to start one should they wish.)

This time it's fics based on spin-offs – collectively, there’s probably quite a number but individually it can be tough to get a fix of your fave non-TV team TARDIS. Of course, it’s obvious why – if you haven’t been able to listen that audio/read that book/comic, you don’t know the characters. Duh, as they say.

However, I find fic is a good way to get an introduction – some of them are even better in fic! Certainly, I got lost and bewildered long before the EDAs had finished their run, and never got to meet Anji, (tho' I know Fitz) but I find I really enjoy fic with that team. Fitz-fic has a tendency to be entertaining also. And I tried out fic with Hex, Lucie and Erimem before I got to meet any of them - it acted as a useful taster. And being way behind with Big Finish’s main ranges, I’ve never yet caught their Gallifrey series, but I love almost any humorous fics based on it.

So, maybe fic here is even more important than for the mainstream characters, as it can work as a taster (or even a substitute for out of print stuff)? What do people think and which spin-off characters deserve more fic?

Are you an addict for anything Bg Finish? Missing the New Adventures, or the PDAs? Or are there some highly obscure one-off novel/audio/comic strip characters/ideas you’re desperate to have explored further? (e.g. I managed to get hold of one of Kaldor City audios. Now if I can only get the rest, I’d love to see some fic for that – how’s about that for obscure? But snarky. Oh, how snarky…)

I did (it’s got Traditional) collect some Random Pairing Prompts to whet our appetites, but as there were so many characters, it got epic so see the previous post for the prompts! It’s Big Finish’s fault for taking in the other spin-offs, [Benny, Fitz, Izzy, Frobisher…], I suppose - it became impossible to separate them. (I do like BF’s optimistic view that it’s a big universe, universes, in fact, and the timeline’s pretty wibbly-wobbly and that all of this happened somewhen, somewhere and we don’t need to un-canonise anything. Sorry, slightly off-topic.)

So, what do people think and, more importantly, what fics would we like to see? Any ideas, people? There's no guarantee they'll get picked up, but they may (and all suggestions will be included on updates and put into the hat for Prompt of the Month).

Sometimes I have what I'd call productive days of creativity, often during bus journeys or long walks. Today happens to be have been one of them, but since some of the Bunnies (others of which I'm keeping and you can't have them... yet. They're too fluffy and cute to give away.) are perhaps beyond my present means to write properly, I'm putting them down gentlely for you to consider adopting. Don't forget my former bunnies here, here and here... they do so want a warm screen to live on! Oh, and if you fancy pipping the post at a possible future community of mine, check out the Trinity Challenge for Doctor Who on my own Profile here!

Today the line-up sees a trio of bunnies, the latter two of which were conceived only this morn. Am I heartless to give them away so soon? Yes, probably. Nevermind.

Characters/Pairings (if any): Bernice Summerfield and River Song. I leave you with the option of throwing in Seven, Ace, Ten, Eleven and Amy if you will, but only the top two are absolutely required. Benny Audio characters like Jason, Brax and the like can also be involved. River is probably in her Professor days but you can have her younger if you like.
Plot Bunny Summary: On a dig on an alien world in both the Twenty Seventh and Fifty First Centuries, Archaelogists extraordinary Benny Summerfield and River Song uncover a mysterious Time Rift, only to find themselves face to face with each other. After much amusing arguing and acusations of copying the two face a dangerous threat from the dawn of time (so the usual) using the time breach, Benny and River realise they have to work together.
Any Other Notes: Not much else to say - can't believe no body has brought these two together for a story (and I have looked) so now's the time for it!

Characters/Pairings (if any): Nyssa of Traken and The Master (Ainley Version), possibly the (newly regenerated) Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Adric.
Plot Bunny Summary: AU Castrovalva: Nyssa is kidnapped by the Master instead of Adric, but something happens during the Master's TARDIS flight to Castrovalva causing a emergency landing and they are trapped together in a dangerous environment. Nyssa has the opportunity to face the man who took her father's life, caused her home planet's destruction and whose very appearance is a terrible reminder of that fact. Will she do something she might regret?
Any Other Notes: Im interested in this rather possibly darkish AU but I have never written for the Ainley Master before so I'm not that certain I could do this one justice, but love the concept - hope someone will be interested in this one!

Characters/Pairings (if any): Homes and Waston (Gen/Non-Shippy), a Dalek.
Plot Bunny Summary: Holmes and Waston get involved in a curious case involving a number of mysterious deaths... which leads them to an encounter with a stranded Dalek prepared to exterminate all of Old London town!
Any Other Notes: Bit free form this one... I know there are loads of Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes crossovers (and most of them are awesome!) but nearly all have the Doctor in - I fancied seeing one where Holmes faces a danger of the Whoniverse alone, and I'd see to see how his keen mind deduces such a creature as a Dalek. It's up to you what version of Dalek this is - I'm personally seeing a Time War Gold version, not unlike in situation to the one from Dalek.

Two further bunnies, this time of the Companion Team-Up varity...

Era (if any): Second Doctor, Seventh Doctor
Characters/Pairings (if any): Victoria Waterfield and Mel Bush Team-Up. Second and Seventh Doctors optional. (But it might be more interesting not to have the Doctors actually meet, or for the two to realise they're both Time Travellers.)
Plot Bunny Summary: Victoria and Mel get seperated from their Doctors on a vast futuristic space station, and team up together to foil a dangerous alien plot to destroy the station in their own style.
Any Other Notes: Victoria and Mel seem to get some slack as 'Scream Queens' and decidedly unoriginal Companions, yet when well written they have become two of my favourite Companions in Who History, and I've always wanted to see them team up and save the day themselves. Petticoats and carrot juice at the ready, it's Waterfield and Bush to the rescue!

Era (if any): Sixth Doctor, Tenth Doctor
Characters/Pairings (if any): Frobisher and Martha Jones Team-Up. Again it's optional for Six and Ten to appear or meet up, but in this case I'd be interested to see these two incarnations banter it out! Martha and Frobby should be the focus though. As another optional extra you could involve Josiah Dogbolter from the DWM comics (and an old enemy of Six and Frobs) in proceedings if you know the character well.
Plot Bunny Summary: Martha Jones gets thrown into a prison cell to find its occupied by a talking Penguin. The pair realise they're both friends of the Doctor and resolve to break out, becoming good friends on the way.
Any Other Notes: Gathered from getting Martha Jones/Frobisher/Prison Cell on the Random Pairing Generator yonks ago, and it's just struck me as a great set of companions. Frobisher is certainly my favourite expanded universe companion after Evelyn and Charley and always deserves more pieces of the fiction pie.

I tend to use it more as these two characters with that prompt than actual shippage (although occasionally if you squint, if I make the effort...). Plot Bunny Summary: Two, Jamie and Zoe in some kind of murder mystery set up. Having said that, I'd read anything well-written on this TARDIS team, even if they were only tidying out the kitchen cupboards...
Any Other Notes: I really would as happily read the tidying up the kitchen fic as much as the murder mystery. Altthough I love murder mysteries.
