Okay, this one's got spoilers for last's night ep of Who, so I'm going to slap a cut on it.

This is a special Prompt of the Month, in honour of Liz Shaw (and Caroline John).

So, the prompt is 'Liz Shaw'. We collected some prompts and requests in the last post, and you'll find these under the cut, together with any existing ideas from the masterlist:

Liz Shaw fic prompts )

Rules of the challenge
Fics can be as short or as long as you like. Please post wherever you wish but link back to this post via the comments (if short enough and you want, comment!fic is fine).

Bonus points for including as much of the original prompt as possible, but this is a free-for-all, so there is plenty of room for interpretation (e.g. same prompt, but variation of character etc.)

Those taking part will receive banners.

The challenge closes on Sunday 22nd July 2012.

I will post a reminder before then.

And, also, I'll just add that I've not seen many tribute fics for Liz appearing on Teaspoon or the main DW comms... so it would be lovely if this comm managed to generate some.

I'm sure everyone here has heard the sad news about Caroline John, who played the very awesome Liz Shaw during the Third Doctor's era.

In tribute, [livejournal.com profile] dw_straybunnies will have a Prompt of the Month, and it'll be for Liz Shaw. We have one or two prompts in the masterlist, but if we round some up here, I'll include them all in the prompt post and we'll see if we can at least have a little bit more Liz in the world that way.

So, what fic would you like to see for Liz? Missing adventures from S7? Her career before or after the Doctor? Multi-era fics, or pairings you think would be great? Here is the place to share your ideas!

I think she was one of the most ideally placed companions for a return visit, so that's probably what I'd like to see now that it can (sadly) never happen for real. How about everyone else?

Era (if any): Three, Four, Eight, Ten, Eleven
Characters/Pairings (if any): Liz Shaw, Harry Sullivan, Grace Holloway, Martha Jones, Rory Pond-Williams
Plot Bunny Summary: The Five Actual Doctors (Well, Four Doctors And A Lizard Nurse). Which is to say: I just now found out, from this excellent but mildly heartbreaking tribute vid for Caroline John, that Liz Shaw had a degree in medicine. And promptly went "omg YOU were the first actual-doctor companion? I never knew!" So I rounded up all the medically-trained people who have worked with the Doctor (that I could remember; additions heartily welcomed!) and, um... can't actually think of anything to do with them. Therefore, TO STRAYBUNNIES! *flails nobly* XD
Any Other Notes: Um, I think that sums it up?

Era (if any): Three and/or Four
Characters/Pairings (if any): Sarah Jane, Liz, Jo, possibly Three or Four as well
Plot Bunny Summary: Like the subject line says, I just finished reading this history of Nancy Drew's authors. And it is so very, very clear to me that Sarah Jane traveled back in time to the 1920s and served as the inspiration for Nancy Drew. (Actually, now that I think about it, LIz isn't a half-bad candidate either, if you focus on the demeanor and style more than the crime-solving. So maybe Sarah Jane would be the boyish, adventurous George? And Jo totally could've been the giggly, goodhearted inspiration for Bess.)
Any Other Notes: Also, Harriet Stratemeyer (head of the syndicate that published Nancy Drew) has definite parallels to Jo Grant, with the privileged background (and accompanying blindspots) and the can-do attitude and the desire for everyone just to be nice and get along. And Mildred Wirt (the original ghostwriter) was a fiercely independent journalist, clever and proud and hard-working and filled to the brim with gumption--she basically was Sarah Jane. So maybe the story could be more linear, about Jo or Sarah meeting these women in the seventies, and being inspired by them.

some ideas

[livejournal.com profile] lost_spook recommended that I post here some time ago, but I was feeling a bit silly. So, here (finally) are some things I wish I could write, but know I never will...

Username: ravenskyewalker
Characters/Pairings: Third Doctor/Liz Shaw
Plot Bunny Summary: The Doctor and Liz experiment with Time Lord/human sex out of scientific curiosity. (He might be feeling a bit lonely and bored in exile, your choice.)

Username: ravenskyewalker
Characters/Pairings: Third Doctor/Liz Shaw/Brigadier
Plot Bunny Summary: I know I'm not the only one who likes the idea of the Doctor, Liz, and the Brigadier as a threesome (especially after seeing the "Silurians" promo shot of them in the barn, with hay); I've seen fic like that out there, just not enough. (But then, these three appeal to me enough that, even if there were more fic, it probably still wouldn't be enough. These things happen...)

Oh thank the Lord for this particular community. You have no idea how long these poor defenceless bunnies have been in my fictional garden shed for months, begging for a kind owner to give them a web page of their own. Come on little ones, show your stuff for the nice people...

Two to start, one very cracky and the other a full-on crossover. Have some more serious ideas to put up later.

Era (if any): Third Doctor Era
Characters/Pairings (if any): Three, Master, Brigadier and other Third Doctor Characters. For pairings possibly Liz/Brig? Or Master/Anyone? (It's his dream!)
Plot Bunny Summary: The Delgado Master falls asleep watching Hana Barbara Cartoon Wacky Races whilst imprisoned by UNIT and has a really weird dream where he's Dick Dasterly, and the other racers are all other Third Doctor era characters! Most are up to you but I clearly suggest Three as Professor Pat Pending in his Whomobile, the Brigadier in the Amry Surplus Special and the glammor gal of the highway must be Josephine Grant. What Muttley would be is entirely up to you - I'm gunning for a micro sized Ogron!
Any Other Notes:  Blame this on watching an array of Wacky Races Cartoons in the summer holidays whilst in my hotel room and a strange train of thought afterwards.

#2

Era (if any): Sarah Jane Adventures (Pre K9 leaving Sarah, possibly even Post School Reunion and Pre Invasion of the Bane!)
Characters/Pairings (if any): Wallace/Sarah Jane Romance. K9/Gromit Friendship. Slitheen and Feathers Mcdraw. Optional Preston.
Plot Bunny Summary: The ultimate canine heroes of K9 and Gromit (what do you mean, what about Scooby Doo?) join forces to save their world from a deadly plot by the giggling hunters of the galaxy! And is Feather Mcdraw, crime penguin extraordiniare really an intergalactic criminal?! By heck lads, this calls for a try of the Al-ie-o Matic! And could Sarah Jane Smith have found love with Wallace's brilliant mind and love of all things cheesy? Only one way to find out...
Any Other Notes:  Had this in my head for agesssssss but never the time to write it out - the very idea appealed to me, at its heart a great light-hearted crossover and an unlikely but surprisingly sweet and logical pairing between Sarah and Wallace. I really hope someone who's a fan of both shows could really do this bunny justice, it would mean the world to me! :D

Yes, there has been actual fic this month:

Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Title: Till We Meet Again (Don’t Make It Anytime Soon
Word Count: 2237
Rating: All ages
Characters/Pairings: Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Doris Lethbridge-Stewart, Liz Shaw, Fiona Lethbridge-Stewart, Third Doctor
Plot Bunny donor: [livejournal.com profile] primsong HERE.
Summary: There are three women in the Brigadier's office. This may be the most improbable thing that ever happened on UNIT grounds... or not.
[identity profile] primsong.livejournal.com
I've a shred of a bunny that I don't think I'm quite up to tackling, now up for adoption:

During Three's era, the Brig's ladies end up meeting one another - Fiona, Doris and optionally (depending on your personal slant) Liz. Possible Brig whumpage situation that brings them together in a hospital, or something more benign like a tea invitation sent out by someone who just wants to stir up some trouble for him and his job, poor fellow. Enjoy!
