It's well past time for another discussion post, and I thought I'd re-run the crossover one we had many moons ago, because time moves on and people discover ad new TV shows/books etc, and it is one of the delights of fan fiction, after all. Crossing fandoms is one thing that can only rarely be done by the sources themselves. And Doctor Who with its simple go-anywhere, anytime premise is built for the possibility more than most TV shows.

So, what crossover fanfic would you love to see? What is there not enough of, or not with the Doctor/companion you'd have gone for?

I'm with several other people I know in waiting for the first Downton Abbey/Doctor Who crossover. (Don't people realise that Violet is just waiting for her chance to fight off some aliens?)

What do you all think? (As ever, any suggestions in the comments below will be added to the ever-growing list of prompts.)

Given my current TV obsession, it has to be Foyle's War and Doctor Who!

Preferrably my fave companion, Martha Jones, meeting Sam and Foyle...

Canon suggests Martha might find her welcome in Hastings somewhat... varied. But then, she's already been insulted in 1913 and 1969, why not get insulted in 1946 as well?

*Foyle's War* canon tells me that both Sam and Foyle are extremely broadminded people who would treat Martha with the dignity and respect she deserves as a fellow human being, no matter what her skin colour.

Of course. The same is not, however, true of everyone else in Hastings.

Well that's true of everyone in any era - there are plenty of early 21st century morons who think skin colour makes a pennyworth of difference.

OMG Doctor Who is wonderful for crossovers (cough, I would say that, wouldn't I). But really, you don't even need to think too much of how the two universes work together - I mean, it's DW! He can just show up there :D

There can never be enough Doctor Who/ Big Bang Theory crossovers. Also, DW/ Labyrinth. And I have to say that I think DW/Labyrinth would probably work best with Moffat's Who. It's all fairytale logic!

You... don't know Labyrinth? But Jim Henson puppets! David Bowie! Cheesy 80s... everything! ... You need to watch it. Unless you're averse to muppets and other puppets.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm. They may actually be more Fraggle Rock-ish than Muppet-ish.... plenty of muppets there are goblins. So this might not be for you after all :(

Definitely not bright pink and yellow. And the dog is most certainly not sinister! He's very friendly and helpful.

...Although David Bowie's crotch is somewhat terrifying.

Doctor Who crossovers are excellent. I enjoy them even when the other fandom isn't something I have much experience with. I've even found a couple of shows because I read a crossover which I enjoyed.

I have not found a single Doctor Who/Magic Tree House crossover. This upsets me slightly, because, well, its SO OBVIOUS. Clearly, the tree-house is at least a proto-TARDIS. So, from that, here's one: It's been years since (now teenage or adult) Jack and Annie have used the treehouse, but when they find a man in a blue box, the magic of their childhood returns and they find out much more about their past.

Also, while I'm here, I'll leave something a good friend of mine would very much like to see: The Doctor (post time-war) meets, and has to face Paradox from Yugioh. (Either that or Nyssa does, which would be less of interest to my friend, but moreso to the way this comm is classic-oriented)

They're the kids books my Mary Pope Osborne, yes. I think they made an anime of it too, but I was thinking of them.

And, while I consider myself to be primarily a Ten!fangirl, I'm a fan of both Doctor Whos. Really, my logic there was more that the friend who's idea it was isn't even finished with s4 of New Who yet (Which kills me a bit, because she keeps talking about how she likes all of messing with time angst, and the Time War, but she hasn't even seen Waters of Mars or End of Time yet), but I thought the different angle would be interesting as well, and that it might also get some love from here. I added Nyssa to the mix there because I thought it would be interesting to see someone with a very different reaction to the whole last-of-my-kind thing in the situation of meeting someone with the very violent, time-changing reaction to it, rather than Nine and Ten who are kind of messes themselves. Plus, I love Five's mini temper tantrums whenever anyone asks to do something too risky involving time.

(And, really, only one Fivey fic? That's terrible! I love him.)

Ooh, no, I haven't. I'm still pretty new to classic-land as far as fic goes. Thanks!

You know, there's a fairly common recurring prompt of "Mary Poppins is a Time Lady", because of the carpetbag, but I recently concluded that Mary Poppins is actually more like Chrestomanci. For reasons.

So, by a subtle and complicated process known as "violently wresting the topic back to Doctor Who" (yes I'm in a weird mood), I should like to see Chrestomanci meet the Doctor. Any Doctor. One, for instance; the amount of name-fluffing alone would probably set new records. O_O ;-)

O. M. G. YES.

...this needs to be a fanart now. *goes and makes thinkyfaces at sketchpad*

(Lost_spook, is this a fic-only comm, or does fanart count as a prompt fill? And has this question already been answered and I'm just blanking? ;P)

I have the utterly insane idea of putting Jarlaxle in the TARDIS with the Doctor. Which incarnation of the Doctor I'm not sure, but just imagine it :P

*headdesk* Ooops, sorry. I thought I wrote that in my other post...

He's from the Forgotten Realms novels, mainly known for the character Drizzt Do'Urden. He's a drow mercenary whose known as a walking Deus ex Machina. He's also got very odd dress sense, a wicked sense of humour and can talk himself into and out of trouble if he's lucky.

Jarlaxle in a nutshell. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jarlaxle) Yeah, it's his wiki page....

No problem. I'm a huge Jarlaxle fan. There's not enough of us in the world.

Being a huge comics nerd and particularly Marvel, I always love imagining them together - I'm even mentally devising a crossover between Who and Spider-Man called Web of Time! Effectively thinking about trying to pair off Spidey and Who eras together (so First Doctor and Steve Dilko Spidey and the like) with allies and enemies from respective times - maybe even have the Doctor answer the question regaridng the 'Sliding Timescale' Marvel has had since the 60's!

I seem to recall Lost Spook doing a highly fun UNIT/Early 80's X-Men short crossover at one point which I would love to see a whole fic of since that era of X-Men (Kitty Pryde, Lockheed, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Angel) is my favourite. And the Fantastic Four meeting the Doctor would also rule - Reed Richards nerding over the TARDIS, K9 encountering HERBIE and of course the inevitable Doctor Doom/Doctor faceoff!

Lately someone on Whofic has writen a fun Tenth Doctor Doctor Who/Magic School Bus crossover (because like Mary Poppins Miss Frizzle is clearly a Time Lady).

My dad is a pretty big Department S fan (which had the dashing Jason King in it) and I always thought especially since it came out in 1970 that its female star Annabelle Hurst was an awful lot like Liz Shaw and Department S dealt with weird unexplained crimes (plus Terry Nation and Dennis Spooner were involved in it). So I'd adore reading a Season 7 UNIT/Department S crossover with the Third Doctor meeting Jason King.

Show I was watching quite a while before Downton but is a similar period is the 90's BBC Comedy You Rang M'Lord? by the same developers as Dad's Army and HI De Hi. This is a great comedy series set in an aristocratic family's house in the 20's and has some wonderfully amusing characters like Su Pollard's plain maid Ivy Stokes, her ever greedy trying to better himself father Alf Stokes and the more decent James Twelvetrees, plus the family of the house with the apparently respectable Lord Meldrum and his maid carrying on brother Teddy, plus his two daughter the spoilt Ms Poppy (who has a thing for Twelvetrees and enjoys teasing him) and the socialist-minded Gentleman get-up wearing Ms Sissy (whose her business with her girlfriends is 'left said, soonest mended' with the downstairs staff.) My favourite character though has to be the lowest ranking aged Scullery Maid Mabel "I can't remember the last time I had a cup of tea" Wheeler. Anyway, since seeing this I've adored the idea of seeing this crossover with Who - perhaps the Doctor is investigating an alien presence in the house and so stays as a guest with his companions pretending to be his servants?

Ah, apologies. It might have been (though I can't seem to locate it on Justice's blog) or of course it might have been Primsong as I know she's quite the Third Doctor era writer so... it was basically Kitty reacting to the Brigadier that she could become a member of UNIT.

That's ok, I like them all! :)

This will no doubt have to wait until all the episodes have been broadcast, but if Jenna-Louise Coleman's character doesn't make it to the end of the latest Titanic I shall be surprised if there isn't a flurry of fixits where she gets saved by one or more Doctors. Or the Dream Lord, of course.

Presumably, if Ten's involved, he declares he's the Time Lord Victorious and he's going to stop the ship sinking in the first place, and don't think he won't just because Nine and Seven have already seen it go down! Time can be rewritten! Just you watch him!! Count the exclamation marks!!!

Until the remaining three episodes have been broadcast, it's probably too early to make it a request — by the time the last one rolls around, we may all be cheering as she drowns :-)
